Position: Pedagogical Research Associate – edX


Summary:


IMBx is a programme started in August 2014 by IIM Bangalore with the aim of providing access to world-class education in management to every interested learner in India and across the world. IIMB believes in the disruptive power of technology and is committed to leveraging digital channels to bring our motto of radiant learning to life. The Institute aims to achieve this goal by offering Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) starting from July 2015 through edX, a not-for-profit online initiative of Harvard and MIT that offers online courses from the world’s best universities and organisations.

The Pedagogical Research Associate will provide complete support for individual faculty members for Course design, Content research, Creation of digital courseware (videos, presentations, reading material, etc.), Online assessment strategy, and Course authoring. The role also includes liaising with MOOC support teams such as editors, cameramen, and instructional designers. Management of course delivery (TA role), Course QA and testing are an integral part of the role.

This position is offered on contract and renewable subsequently. Remuneration will be based on Institute norms and the applicant’s qualification and experience


Major Duties and Responsibilities:


Delivering online course by working closely with the faculty and MOOC team in terms of:

• Course Design that defines the details about the course.
• Content creation and research including preparing reading materials and assessments.
• Video reording including assisting for the video shoots, working closely with the camera team in deciding the location and visuals.
• Video editing support for the videos produced which includes preparing edit notes and visual resources (power point slides, images, etc.) as required by working closely with the Instructional Designer.
• Technical course authoring by creating the course on the edX Platform.
• Course TA (Teaching Assistantship) including monitoring the course once it goes live in terms of active participation in the discussion forum as well as revising course, as per learner/instructor feedback.


Key Skills / Abilities / Knowledge required:


• Strong command over written and spoken English.
• Well versed with MS Office tools such as Excel, PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of online creative and visual tools is an added advantage.
• Behaviourial competencies such as leadership, teamwork, flexibility, communication and initiative.


Educational qualification and Experience:


• Candidate should have a Master’s degree in an area pertaining to business and management.
• 1-3 years’ work experience is desirable.


Reporting Relationship:


The PRA will report to Assistant Manager – IIMBx.

Position: Video Editor-edX

Summary:

Indian Institute of Management Bangalore is looking for bright, young and experienced Graduates for the role of Video Editor for the edX project.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Complete support for individual faculty members and content team for video recording
• Video editing/post production
• Video content management
• Individual project tracking and reporting
• Coordinate and communicate with the all stakeholders on their projects and their status
• Setup travel arrangements on requirement basis
• Any other project work assigned from time to time
• Support the video team in end-to-end management of the production and delivery of videos for MOOCs.
• Responsible for complete post production activities of videos including, but not limited to editing, graphic design, encoding for edX specifications, tracking/versioning, sound, etc.
• Responsible for interfacing with faculty, administrative and technical staff, interns and the vendor ecosystem on a daily basis to ensure that course videos are recorded, edited and ready for delivery through the MOOC platform online.


Key Skills / Abilities/Knowledge required:


• Vocational courses/Demonstrated proficiency in IT/Electronics/Media/education are an added advantage.
• Demonstrated proficiency in handling professional audio/video equipment (HD-SDI camera, video switcher, convertor, audio mixer and amplifier).
• Should be fluent in English, Hindi and knowledge of Kannada will be added an advantage.
• Proficiency with MS Office

Position: – Instructional Designer - IIMBx


Summary:


Indian Institute of Management Bangalore is looking for bright and experienced Post Graduates for the role of instructional designer for the Institute’s IIMBx MOOCs Programme.
The project will be part of the Institute’s Digital Learning programme for creating Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). The role of the instructional designer will be a key role in the course design and creation and will entail working closely with the faculty to create digital courseware for the edX platform. This will involve interfacing with faculty and the video team on a daily basis to create a pedagogically powerful online course.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:


• Complete support for individual faculty members, instructional design team and course team for digital courseware design and creation.
• Storyboarding and creation of course material (presentations, video scripts, animation, etc.)
• Instructional Technology
• Liaison with video production team to ensure instructional design goals are met.
• Content review, QA and testing for online MOOC courseware
• Validating content for language accuracy
• Any other project work assigned from time to time


Key Responsibilities

Educational qualification and Experience:


• Candidate should be a First class MBA/Post-Graduate (full-time two years course of a reputed University) with 2-10 years of experience.

Position: Chief Administrative Officer

Summary:

Indian Institute of Management Bangalore invites applications for the position of Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). The Office of the CAO primarily focuses on planning and driving the Institute’s Administrative activities which includes, Infrastructure and estate management, Transport, Security, Public Relations, Stores & Purchase, Facilities, Community Welfare, Students Hostels, Land etc. The job holder as Chief Administrative Officer reports to the Dean – Administration and performs a set of responsibilities which facilitates planning, directing and controlling administrative activities in accordance with the set policies of the Institute. S/he has to manage funds, drive budgets, and automate processes. The job holder needs to continuously interact with various departments, Faculty, staff and students to understand the expectations. S/he needs to educate and clarify internal customers on matters related to the administrative activities, their financial processes, systems and controls.
He/she will be assisted by departmental heads of Infrastructure, Estate, Stores & Purchase, Transport, Security, Public Relations, and Hostels etc.

While executing the job the job holder needs to do an in-depth study & analysis of the existing processes and systems and devise systems and processes which help in driving the efficiency of the administration. The incumbent needs to engage closely with both internal and external stakeholders in the role.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:


• All Aspects of Planning and driving the Institute’s Administrative Activities which includes Infrastructure and Estate Management
• Responsible for coordination and interaction with the architects, engineers and the vendors for ensuring quality delivery of the projects of the Institute related to Infrastructure and Estate and complying with the set timelines and standards
• Responsible for management of activities of the Transport, Security, Public Relations, Stores & Purchase, Students Hostel and Facilities functions of the Institute
• Handling all Audit Matters related to Administrative functions in line with the requirement of C& AG
• Plan, direct and control the Administrative activities in accordance with the set policies of the Institute
• Implementation of various other guidelines and orders received from the Government of India
• Manage funds, drive budgets, automate processes of the Infrastructure, estate, transport, security, Students Hostel, Public Relations, Stores and Purchase and Facilities.
• Continuously interact with various departments, faculty, staff and students to understand their expectations related to Administrative Activities.
• Educate and clarify internal customers on matters related to the various administrative processes, systems and controls.
• Provide support to the departments on commercial legal matters, validation of MOU’s, financial agreements.
• Ensuring Statutory Compliance related to the departments handled on an ongoing basis.
• Supporting top management in all matters of strategic planning.
• Develop and Implement MIS for the departments handled.
• Develop MIS for top management of the Institute and the Board for decision making related to the Infrastructure, estate, stores & purchase, Students Hostel and Facilities.
• To drive departmental objectives and contribute to business planning.
• Review the performance of the team members, give feedback, identity the learning needs and develop the capabilities of the team. To perform people responsibilities for development function

Key Skills / Abilities/Knowledge required:


• The position calls for a person with maturity and integrity and above all a rich experience in similarly placed academic institutions. The CAO is required to lead a team of officers in the Institute and guide them in their day-to-day activities and to coordinate with the academic and administrative activities which includes general administration, estate management, engineering, construction, stores &purchase, contract services.
• Strong Analytical, Planning and Forecasting skills should be detail oriented and have the ability to drive administrative process improvements across the Institute.
• The candidate should have thorough knowledge and application of IT based project management tools like MS Project/Primavera/PERT/CPM etc. The candidate should have handled large building projects and also have exposure to dispute resolving measures as per terms of the contract.
• Should possess excellent interpersonal skills and have a solution orientation mind-set.
• Should be self-motivated and able to work independently, with a strong sense of urgency regarding timely follow up and customer service orientation with internal clients.
• Ability to identify and collaborate with internal stakeholders and should have ability to work effectively with members of the staff and faculty.
• Proficiency in MS Office software, e-mail, electronic scheduling, databases and internet and ERP.
• Strong communication skills - oral and written. Ability to effectively communicate across levels of managers and executives in a professional as well as appropriate manner.
• Maintaining organized and accurate written and electronic records of all relevant work in the department and the results thereof.
• Ability to prioritize work opportunities in the department, and effectively manage the same.


Education and Experience:


• Candidates should be a First Class Graduate with a full time Post-graduate degree/Post Graduate Diploma in management from a reputed University / Institute OR Post-graduate degree in Law /Management (MBA) from a reputed University / Institute OR Engineering graduates with a Post Graduate degree /diploma in management. Candidates from Armed forces background are encouraged to apply, Post-graduation qualifications is desirable but not necessary for candidates from Armed Forces
• Should have a minimum of 20 years’ post qualification experience in a large organization/PSUs/Government Institutions in handling the assignments listed under major duties & responsibilities.
• Candidates should have hands on experience in working in ERP environment and have very good IT skills.
• Should be fluent in English and Hindi. Knowledge of Kannada and a foreign language will be added an advantage.

Reporting Relationships


• Chief Administrative Officer will report to the Dean – Administration, IIMB. In addition, s/he will be required to report to the Director as and when required.
